Sew So Sonia
Something new is unfolding! Welcome to Sew So Sonia. I have been sewing since I was eight years of age and am a fourth generation seamstress. In 1980 I added quilting to my love of garment sewing followed by textile art in 2005. I am fascinated by the impact that colo(u)r has on us, its healing powers and the memories it invokes.
Sew So Sonia is my third career. I spent my corporate days working in marketing, advertising, and public relations. In 2005 I retired from the corporate world to be a stay-at-home mom to my twin boys, Anson and Aiden.
Quilting is meditative to me. There is nothing I enjoy more than the sound of my machine piecing one piece of fabric to another. That is my peace and joy.
My goal is to share what I have learned in my sewing journey with you. This month will mark many firsts. I will be publishing my first quilt pattern, offer my first live Zoom class, write my first blog post and newsletter. To be honest, I am nervous and excited at the same time. I find technology daunting as I am out of my comfort zone. I much prefer pencil and paper. Having said that, please be patient with me as I try to make my website say what I want it to say and teach myself about landing pages, MailChimp, allow myself to be vulnerable, open and available to share my mistakes and successes in this third chapter of my life. ~Sonia
